Ipswich Visitor Experience Volunteer

Listening to our visitors is always important, and something we are continually trying to do. As a Visitor Experience Volunteer, you will help collect feedback from the public. The responses you gather will inform the work we do and help us quickly address any visitor concerns. Whether you have free hours here and there, or a whole afternoon to spare, your support enables us to better serve our audiences.

What’s involved?

We are surveying visitors to Christchurch Mansion (open Tuesday – Sunday). Volunteers are asked to give around 2 hours a week, but this is completely flexible and can be done whenever suits you. Only one Visitor Experience Volunteer can be at either museum at any one time, so we have a shared, online calendar for you to reserve your preferred time.

As a friendly face near the entrance/exit to our museums, Visitor Experience Volunteers are naturally asked questions by people arriving/leaving. Our team would therefore ensure you knew what was going on and coming up, in order to help visitors and promote our activity.

Duties include:

Conducting visitor surveys on an iPad.
Welcoming arriving visitors and thanking those who are leaving.
Answering visitor questions and promoting what is going on.

We are able to reimburse travel expenses for this role.

Why get involved?

Training on conducting visitor surveys will be provided. Volunteers will also be able to develop customer service skills. Volunteering with us offers a great opportunity to anyone with a keen interest in the arts or museums, or looking for valuable experience for the future. Our volunteers tell us that they enjoy talking to the public and finding out what excited them whilst at the museum.
