Ipswich Visitor Experience Volunteer

Hearing from our visitors is always important, but even more so now. As a Visitor Experience Volunteer, you will be involved in gathering feedback from the public. The responses you gather will inform the work we do and help us quickly address any visitor concerns as the country come out of lockdown and people start returning to museums. Whether you have free hours here and there, or a whole afternoon to spare, your support enables us to better serve our audiences.

What’s involved?

We are surveying visitors to the Power of Stories exhibition at Christchurch Mansion (open Tuesday – Sunday). Volunteers are asked to give around 2 hours a week, but this can be done at whatever time suits you.

Duties could include:

  • Conducting visitor surveys and recording general comments about the exhibition.
  • Welcoming visitors and answering their questions.
  • Promoting the related events programme.

We are able to reimburse travel expenses for this role.

Why get involved?

Training on conducting visitor surveys will be provided. Volunteers will also be able to develop customer service skills. Volunteering with us offers a great opportunity to anyone with a keen interest in the arts or museums, or looking for valuable experience for the future. Our volunteers tell us that they enjoy talking to the public and finding out what excited them whilst at the museum.

How to get involved?

To be considered for this role, simply sign up and express your interest. You may be asked to attend an informal interview, which can be done over Zoom, telephone or in person. If successful, you would be invited to attend an in-person induction.
